Once your baby has arrived a whole new chapter begins! When preparing for the birth of a baby learning about the period after a baby is born is often overlooked and underestimated. In western culture there is an expectation for women to get back on their feet quickly and for families to resume their everyday lives. Welcoming a new baby is always an adjustment regardless of whether it is your first baby or subsequent baby. Understanding the biological needs of your baby is extremely helpful when caring for your newborn and establishing your own expectations. Your baby's fourth trimester starts from the moment they're born and lasts until they are three months old. The term is used to describe a period of great change and development in your newborn, as they adjust to their new world outside your womb. This workshop isn’t about teaching you a particular parenting style but rather educating you with current research on how to make this transition a more positive experience for you, your family and your baby. What this workshop will cover: * An in-depth explanation of what is the fourth trimester and what are your baby's biological needs * Strategies to help you and your family adjust and to honour this unique period * What happens to the mother's body and brain after birth and the healing process * Strategies to support healing, including practical examples for different birthing outcomes * A variety of rituals and ideas to celebrate the birth of your baby and the fourth trimester
This workshop is an informal class for pregnant women in a small and supportive environment.
